Janet Jackson will be honoured with this year's Global Icon Award at MTV's European Music Awards.

The ceremony, which is set to take place in Bilbao, will see the star, 52, take to the stage to perform a medley of her greatest hits, including her recent hit single Made For Now.



She joins an elite list of artists and bands who have won the trophy before her, including Whitney Houston, Eminem, Bon Jovi, Queen and U2.
Championing Jackson as this year's Global Icon, Bruce Gillmer - global head of music and talent at Viacom - said: 'Janet is without question one of the world's biggest stars.
'Her incredibly artistry has opened doors for countless others while leaving an indelible impact on pop culture - well over three decades and counting.'

The All For You songstress already boasts a number of accolades to her name, inlcluding six Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and big wins over the years at the American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Awards.

This year's MTV EMAs is set to take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Bilbao, Spain on Sunday 4 November, with MTV yet to confirm which other stars will be taking to the stage as well as Janet.
